frequently asked
Have a question? Below are answers to a few frequently asked questions.
What are your cleaning and Sanitation Practices?
I prioritize a safe, non-toxic environment by using Briotech, a powerful yet completely non-toxic disinfectant that is 100 times stronger than bleach without the harsh chemicals. Briotech is made with hypochlorous acid (HOCl), a naturally occurring substance that is gentle enough for children yet highly effective at eliminating bacteria, viruses, and germs.
I sanitize high-touch surfaces, toys, and play areas daily, with extra attention to eating spaces, restrooms, and nap areas. Handwashing is also encouraged throughout the day to maintain a clean and healthy environment for all children.
What is your sick policy? When should I keep my child home?
To maintain a healthy environment for all children, I ask that parents keep their child home if they show any signs of illness, including but not limited to:
Fever of 100.4°F or higher (must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning)
Vomiting or diarrhea (must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning)
Severe cough, wheezing, or difficulty breathing
Unexplained rash
Eye infections (pink eye or discharge)
Excessive runny nose or congestion that interferes with participation
Any contagious illness (strep throat, flu, COVID-19, etc.)
If your child becomes ill during the day, you will be contacted for immediate pickup. I understand that sickness happens, but keeping sick children at home helps protect everyone in my care.
If you have any questions about symptoms or when your child can return, feel free to reach out!
Do you take children on field trips or outdoor activities?
Yes! I believe in creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences both inside and outside the daycare. Children will have daily outdoor play in my secure yard and at our neighborhood park. During the summer months, we’ll also take trips to the pool for water fun.
In addition, I plan quarterly field trips to exciting places like the zoo, aquarium, museums, library, and nature hikes to provide enriching educational adventures. Field trips are contingent on at least 1–2 parents volunteering to help with driving and supervision, as I currently do not have transportation for all children. As my business grows, I hope to invest in a van or another safe transportation option to make field trips even more accessible for all families.
Parents will always be notified in advance, and permission will be required for any off-site trips. My goal is to make learning fun and create lasting memories through exploration and discovery!
What is your emergency plan?
The safety of the children in my care is my top priority, and I have a detailed emergency plan in place to ensure their well-being in any situation.
Medical Emergencies: I am CPR and First Aid certified, and I will administer first aid as needed. In serious cases, I will call 911 first, then contact parents immediately.
Fire or Natural Disasters: I have an evacuation plan in place and practice emergency drills regularly. In case of a fire, severe weather, or other disasters, I will relocate children to a safe area and notify parents as soon as possible.
Lockdown & Security Measures: My home is always secure and locked when children are present. Parents will have a secure way to enter using either a personalized key code or a security camera system that allows me to unlock the door remotely from my phone. This ensures that only authorized individuals can access the daycare.
Emergency Contacts: It is essential that parents provide updated emergency contacts in case I cannot reach you.
I will always keep parents informed during any emergency. If you have any questions about my safety procedures, feel free to ask!
How do you communicate with parents, and what is your approach to parent involvement and discipline?
I believe open communication is essential in providing the best care for your child. I use Brightwheel to share curriculum, daily updates, photos, and messages, keeping you informed about your child’s day. You can also reach me via text or call for quick updates.
Parents are welcome to visit during the day, but to maintain a smooth routine, I ask that visits be scheduled in advance when possible.
When it comes to behavior and discipline, I use gentle guidance techniques, focusing on redirection, positive reinforcement, and age-appropriate communication. My goal is to create a nurturing environment where children feel safe, respected, and encouraged to grow. If any concerns arise, I will communicate with parents to work together on the best approach.
How do I enroll my child?
Enrolling your child at We Ken Grow Daycare is simple! First, contact me to check availability and discuss your child’s needs. If a spot is available, we’ll schedule a meet-and-greet so you can see the space, ask questions, and ensure it’s a good fit.
To secure your child’s spot, I require the first week's tuition to be paid in advance. If there are no current openings, you may choose to join my waitlist. Families on the waitlist will be contacted in the order they applied as soon as a spot becomes available.
If you're interested in enrolling or would like to be added to the waitlist, feel free to reach out today!
